Learn to play 5E by playing
Start with a guided one-shot. It comes with a ready level 1 character and explains the sheet, the rolls and combat as each one first matters.

A first adventure that teaches as you go
Learn by playing
Start with a guided one-shot that introduces the character sheet, rolls, roleplay, combat, and table habits as they become relevant.
A ready character
It comes with a ready level 1 character, so you start at the table instead of at character creation.
The real game
The same campaign view, character sheet, dice engine, and combat tools are used in ordinary play.
Guidance you can switch off
Turn the guidance off at any point without leaving the adventure, and your progress resumes where you left off.
Three steps to the table
Create your free table
Make an account in a minute. No card required.
Open the guided one-shot
It is in the one-shot library, and offered first if you have not played yet.
Play your first scene
Describe what your character does; the guide explains each step as it comes up.
Before you sit down
Does the guided one-shot cost anything?
The guided learn-to-play one-shot is included on every plan, the free one too, and it uses the same daily play allowance as any other adventure rather than a separate one.
What if I want to start over?
Starting over deletes the guided adventure and everything that happened in it, then begins a fresh copy.
Do I need to know the rules first?
No. The engine adjudicates by the SRD 5.2 ruleset and rolls the dice for you, and the guide explains each part as it first matters.
